We’ve all used over-the-counter air fresheners in one form or another to mask unpleasant odors in various places throughout the home including kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms and living rooms.
This might seem like a step in the right direction, but the chemicals in these products are extremely bad for your health.
A 2005 study by the European Consumer Organization states that a total of more than 350 different chemicals and allergens were detected after testing 74 air-freshening products. The chemicals included benzene, formaldehyde, styrene and phthalates.
You might be wondering what to do then? Well, the solution is right in your home. You can make your own air freshener using some simple ingredients.
Depending on the recipe you use, you can cover up the unwanted odor with better-smelling scents or neutralize the bad odor.
